BRIDGEPORT, NJ - Mike Gular's first ride in the famed Keystone Racing No. 126 for Glenn Hyneman could be considered 'mission accomplished.'
Gular headed to Bridgeport's Charlie Bray Memorial Sunday afternoon in search of seat time in the Hyneman car - nearly two months after he ran hot laps in a rain-nixed Sept. 26 program.
Starting 11th in his heat race, Gular climbed to seventh, one spot out of a transfer. A second-place run in the consolation put Gular 20th on the grid for the Tri-Track Series 35-lap main.
Picking up positions methodically, the 26-year-old crossed the stripe fifth. However, officials assessed a four-spot penalty for advancing on a lap-28 single-file restart. A ninth-place finish resulted.
